Landscape does not exist in nature without the eye, which grasps an expanse of land as a landscape. Climate’s existence is similar. The perception of climate is the perception of an arrangement, a configuration of the real.
This interdisciplinary event will showcase a range of contemporary methodologies for the communication of our current environmental concern. The aim is to propose new approaches to the visualisation and contextualisation of existing climate data and documentation.
Adapting the notion of the black-box recorder, this site is organized as an arche or shelter in which to gather, display and respond to the fragmentary remains of an ephemeral crisis.
Each of the works featured in the event responds to local climate issues, and a number have been developed through an ongoing dialogue between artists and scientists working in the Aberystwyth area.
